Euterpe – Arts and Sciences

«Euterpe» is a figure from Greek mythology and one of the nine Muses, who were considered goddesses of the arts and sciences. Euterpe specifically presided over music, song, and lyric poetry. Her name is derived from the Greek words «eu,» meaning «well» or «good,» and «terpsis,» meaning «delight» or «pleasure,» reflecting her association with the joy and beauty found in the arts, especially music and poetry.

Musical Composition

I have always been passionate about the art of understanding musical structures, the combination of sounds, timbres and rhythms.
I had the opportunity to present some of my works, and through this space I want to share with you other of my most recent musical works.

Teaching

I have been teaching music for about fifteen years. I have had the opportunity to learn about teaching tools to improve teaching-learning processes in musical environments. I have taught theoretical subjects such as harmony, counterpoint, fugue, and musical instruments (piano and recorder). I have founded spaces for the exchange of musical knowledge such as the ‘Meeting of Contemporary Music of Aragua’, and spaces for instrumental performance such as ‘Le Fénix Consort’. I am currently researching the relationship between musical elements, our cognitive learning activity, and how technology can help us with topics such as interpretation and expressiveness.

Recorder

My first musical instrument, the recorder, experience playing it, teaching it and composing it for soloists and chamber ensembles. In 2008 I founded the recorder orchestra of Maracay (my native city), and in 2014 the recorder consort ‘Le Fenix consort’, both belonging to the Venezuelan orchestra system, Maracay nucleus.

Meetings and Conferences

Spaces for the exchange of musical knowledge are as important as any other type of space. Many of them are found in educational environments, conferences or professional competitions.

For this reason, in 2017 we created a musical meeting space, called ‘Aragua Contemporary Music Meeting’, with the idea of unifying in a single space talks, master classes, learning about the work of contemporary composers from Venezuela, and allowing young people musicians to approach the interpretation of contemporary works.
